Double Tragedy in Napa: Bay Area Woman and Lawyer Shot by Alleged Boyfriend
The victims of a fatal double shooting in Napa have been identified as Georgina Padilla, 38, from Napa, and Ralph Andino III, 54, from American Canyon. The Napa County coroner’s office confirmed their identities on Friday. Both individuals were found outside an apartment complex on the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue on Thursday morning.
Emergency responders arrived around 9:45 a.m. to discover Padilla and Andino suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, both were pronounced dead.
Andino’s family confirmed to NBC Bay Area that Padilla was one of his clients, suggesting he may have been making a house call to her apartment at the time of the shooting. An archived version of Andino’s law firm website indicates he handled a variety of cases, including family law, personal injury, and DUIs.
The Napa Police Department reported that a suspect was identified within hours of the incident. Less than four hours later, officers spotted the suspect at the intersection of Juarez and 2nd streets. When an officer activated their lights and siren, the suspect allegedly fled in his car, leading police on a chase to Kennedy Park. There, his vehicle became disabled, and he refused to exit despite repeated orders from officers.
According to Napa police, “The suspect continuously refused to surrender and ultimately suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” The suspect, identified as Baltazar Rangel Juarez, 28, was treated for his injuries at the scene and is currently hospitalized. KTVU crime reporter Henry K. Lee revealed that Juarez was Padilla’s “new boyfriend.”
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Napa police Det. Dustin Dodd at 707-257-9568.
