Local First Responders Assist in North Carolina Hurricane Helene Cleanup

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, several teams from Pennsylvania are actively responding in North Carolina. Among them is the Pennsylvania Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team, which includes Rickey Price, a member of the Cambria County Swift Water Rescue Team. Price is set to remain in North Carolina until at least Saturday.

Additionally, the PA Urban Search and Rescue Task Force is working in the Asheville area to assess and address the damage caused by the hurricane. Johnstown Fire Chief Bob Statler confirmed that one of his team members is currently deployed with this task force, although he did not disclose their identity.

Residents in the Asheville area report that cell phone service remains inconsistent, though conditions are gradually improving as recovery efforts progress and the search for victims continues.
