San Jose Police Release Details of Fatal Sunday Crash

Police have released additional details regarding a traffic collision in San Jose on Sunday that resulted in the death of a man and injuries to three others.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle accident at the intersection of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Bayliss Avenue. According to police, a 2000 silver Chevy pickup truck, driven by an adult male, was traveling southbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard when it lost control at Bayliss Avenue, veering into the northbound lanes.

The truck then collided broadside with a 2021 BMW SUV, which was traveling northbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard. The BMW was occupied by an adult male driver, an adult female passenger, and a male juvenile passenger.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the BMW were transported to a local hospital, where they are expected to survive.

This incident marks San Jose’s 39th traffic fatality of 2024, according to police reports.
