Sea Lion Rescued from Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County
On Saturday, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) successfully rescued a stranded sea lion that had wandered onto Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County, near the intersection with Highway 129.
Thanks to the prompt actions of CHP officers, along with assistance from the fire department and an animal rescue team, the sea lion was safely captured and removed from the busy roadway.
In a social media post, CHP expressed their gratitude, stating, “We’re so grateful for everyone who called in and helped ensure this sea lion got the assistance it needed! Also, thank you to everyone who captured pictures of the incident. Teamwork makes the dream work!”
