BUTLER, Pa. (WPMG) – The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning to Butler County Citizens that a PayPal scam targeting criminals and their families is something to watch out for.
This is a scam in which an unknown caller or group of callers is reaching out to criminals and their families posing as authorities to collect bond, fines, judgements and other legal finance.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office wants to clarify that they do not call about these fees, and that they do not operate using PayPal, nor do they handle any majority of legal fees directly.
The best advice from the Sheriff’s office is to hang up the call and dial 9-11 to report the call. Do not give any information over the phone.
