PENNSYLVANIA (WPMG) – A new statewide law and program has been put into effect today that is designed to protection constructions crews.
The program will now allow PennDOT to install automated speed cameras in work zones which will relay license plates to the Pennsylvania State Police.
A first-time violation will result in a written warning being mailed to the registered vehicle owner.
A second-time offense will result in a $75.00 fine.
Finally, for the third offense there is a hefty $150.00 fine.
It is undetermined what will happen to violators past their third violation.
All construction zones with functioning cameras will have a clear sign visible at the entrance of the work zone.
