ViaSat is the satellite internet company that services many of the rural areas of Pennsylvania.
Like many satellite companies, the prices are high for a limited amount of internet service. Unlike other internet companies, ViaSat has been plagued with service issues since November 2019. The most recent failure in internet service was Sunday, March 1st.
This recent system shut down left many without the internet and without the ability to contact the company. The customer care and billing systems also take a hit when the company’s system crashes. Employees are unable to access accounts and errors to billing information are made.
One of these errors includes removing funds from saved credit cards for accounts without outstanding bills. Sources say that they have been charged double and sometimes different amounts during the last few months. However, without ViaSat service, many rural areas cannot receive internet service.
To prepare for a better option, there are broadband surveys available to South-Central Pennsylvania. If you receive a survey please take the time to answer the questions. Rural areas may receive a broadband option for internet service.
