KITTANNING, Pa. (WPMG) – A Kittanning public safety official spoke to WPMG-TV and WPMG-FM on the condition of anonymity regarding the shooting that happened near the Kittanning Hose, Hook, and Ladder Co. No. 1 volunteer fire department.
The official stated that 28-year-old Jeffery Stephens Jr. got into a verbal altercation with his father, Jeffrey Stephens Sr. The argument was about a probation violation involving Stephens Jr.
Stephens Jr. left the incident with his father and was walking towards the fire department on South Jefferson Street.
Stephens Sr. then dialed 911 after the altercation, which caused the Kittanning Borough Police to respond to the incident.
When officers arrived, Stephens Jr. was worried about going back to the Armstrong County Jail, he then shot himself in the face at the rear of the fire department.
