Pittsburgh is slowly becoming the next Los Angeles when it comes to movies and TV shows being produced.
In fact, the steel city has alrady eclipsed New York and Chicago and taken the helm as the number 2 spot in the country for multimedia productions behind LA.

(1968) Night of the Living Dead
The cemetery where George A. Romero filmed in was the Evans City Cemetery. You can visit the cemetery at

(1973) The Crazies
Another film from the George A. Romero vault does show in Butler County. The majority of the filmed was produced in Evans City Borough, Forward Township, and in Harmony (Jackson Township).
The high school used in the movie is now the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School, which is located at 126 Seneca School Road Harmony, PA 16037.
The post office used int he 1973 horror-film, “The Crazies”, is the same post office in Evans City, PA. The location is located at 126 South Jackson Street Evans City, PA 16033.
The monument still stands in front of the Harmony Museum in Harmony, PA.
The town used for filming is South Main Street in Evans City, PA.
The church used in the scene when the pastor lights himself on fire is at the St. John’s United Church of Christ of Evans City, PA. It is located at 501 East Main Street Evans City, PA 16033.

(1991) The Silence of the Lambs
The Clarice’s flashback to her mother’s funeral, you can see a funeral home. This house is located in Rural Valley, PA. It is located at 311 West Main Street Rural Valley, PA.
When Catherine Martin is abducted, this occurs at the Bradford Court Apartments. The address is 1767 Crafton Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15205
When Hannibal Lecter escapes, he actually escapes from the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall located at 4141 5th Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
The Bimmel house is located at 1364 Front Street Glenwillard, PA 15046.
Even with a minor part of the film, the wrong house is located at 1206 Lindbergh Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15223.
The Buffalo Bill house is located in Layton, PA. It is currently owned by 2 former FBI agents, and yes, the well is still in the basement. THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY. The address is 8 Circle Street Perryopolis,PA 15437.
(2002) The Mothman Prophecies
The motel used in the film was the Avalon Motor Inn, which is located at 1 Avalon Circle Eighty Four, PA 15330.
The bridge and town scenes are that of the Kittanning Citizens Bridge in Kittanning, PA. This same town and bridge was used in the 2009 film, “My Bloody valentine 3D”, and 2020 Netflix’s show “Manhunt: Lone Wolf”.

In the film, an explosion occurs at the chemical plant. The chemical plant is the former Reliant Energy plant in Elrama, PA – which is located at 30 Duquesne Light Drive Elrama, PA.
(2007) R.L. Stines The Haunting Hour: Don’t Think About It
The show was filmed in and Pittsburgh. Most of the film was shot in Carnegie, PA or Cranberry Township, PA.
(2009) My Bloody Valentine 3D
The majority of the film was produced in Armstrong County, PA. The mine scenes were taken att he now-closed, Logansport Mine in Ford City, PA. The mine closed several years ago, and belongs to Rosebud Mining Co.

The hospital scenes were filmed at St. Frances Medical Center near downtown Pittsburgh. That facility has now become Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, located at 4401 Penn Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
FILM BLOOPER – Kittanning EMS refused to change the skin of their ambulance. In the one scene where the one victim is struck by the pickaxe at the supermarket (which is Sprankle’s in Kittanning), you an see the ambulance state “KITTANNING” on the back as the paramedics begin to close the doors.
