SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Pa. (KNNP) – As KNNP-TV broke the news of a crash that shut down Route 8 North near Boozel Road, our newsdesk has received official word from Butler County public safety officials that the victim has died.
The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. on William Flynn Highway in Slippery Rock Township, near the Boozel Road intersection.
According to officials last night in a phone interview with KNNP-TV, a truck was traveling on Route 8 when the man lost control of the truck, and went over a steep hillside.
The victim struck two trees while freefalling over the hillside.
The victim was strapped in with his seatbelt, which caused blunt force trauma to the victim.
No more information was available from the fire department on-scene.
Route 8 North was clossed into Christmas Eve morning.
No identity of the victim has been released yet.
