NEW CASTLE, Pa. (KNNP) – Keith Burley, a 43-year-old man on parole, was captured by the United States Marshalls in Youngstown, Ohio after he reportedly stabbed an 8-year-old boy to death Monday evening.
Burley, who is currently on parole for criminal homicide, was with his girlfriend at the time of the incident. The 8-year-old boy died from the stab wounds.
The Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office has filed several charges, most are severe felonies. 911 reports indicate the first call was a kidnapping call, then became a domestic dispute. The dispute occurred inside of a moving vehicle.
Burley started to attack his girlfriend, who also had 2 children inside of the vehicle at that time. Burley’s girlfriend pulled over at the New Castle Fire Department and got outside of the vehicle.
Burley then took off in the vehicle with a 7 and 8-year-old in the backseat. Once the vehicle stopped on High Street, Burley stabbed the 8-year-old boy. The boy died at the scene, after suffering from the stab injury.
In 1999, Burley was charged with murder of the 3rd degree. He reportedly served 19-38 in state prison for that case. He is currently on parole for that incident.
In 2002, Burley faced an additional charge of “assault by prisoner”.
