PITTSBURGH, Pa. – KNNP-TV crews were scattered throughout the Pittsburgh region as the snow started to fall from the sky on Sunday.
News crews peered from the top of Mount Washington in the southern part of Pittsburgh. Once the sun started to fall, the roads quickly turned into a slippery nightmare.
Streets were not plowed by Pittsburgh Public Works for several hours after the majority of the snow had settled onto the steep hilltops of neighborhoods. Steep slippery slopes left cars sliding into one another, as the drivers tried to regain control.
On the Parkway, a larger mess was discovered. Drivers were pulled over at numerous mile markers, due to the road conditions.
One driver just south of the Pittsburgh International Airport was stranded in the center median, as a motorist helped the driver get unstuck after their vehicle had went sideways, leaving tremendous ruts in the ground.
